• The race features a faster 360° course with no extra curves, optimising runners’ times

  • The new and emblematic circuit avoids Via Laietana and starts and finishes on Passeig de Picasso

The iconic Vueling Cursa de Bombers Barcelona 2023 is about to return for its 24th edition. With a date marked on the calendar for 22 October, SevenMila this year’s edition features a new course that promises speed and excitement from start to finish.

The 360° circuit, designed to be faster and more challenging, starts at the iconic Paseo de Picasso, but with a slight twist: a start located 450 metres further back from the traditional start line. A strategic decision that allows for greater fluidity in the first stretches and prepares the runners for a unique experience.

The Catalan Athletics Federation has given its seal of approval to the new course, once again certifying the Vueling Cursa de Bombers Barcelona as one of the fastest 10km races in the city. Running enthusiasts and athletes now have the opportunity to beat their own personal bests thanks to one less bend in the course compared to previous years.

The most noticeable transformation is in the last 4 kilometres of the course. After passing through the iconic Plaza Tetuan, the runners and the Fire Brigade will head into the vibrant Poble Nou neighbourhood. They will descend along the picturesque Passeig de Sant Joan to Carrer Pallars, where they will take a turn onto Carrer de Àvila, before finally crossing the finish line at Passeig de Picasso. This exciting stretch promises to be a challenge for both experienced and novice runners, adding an extra dose of excitement and competition to the race.

The sporting director of the Vueling Carrera de Bomberos, Roger Roca, has expressed his enthusiasm for this evolution in the route, highlighting how the new course encapsulates the essence of the race as it passes through the most emblematic points of the city. The dynamics of the course will allow participants to enjoy a more intense and challenging running experience, while celebrating a true sporting festival in Barcelona.

With registration now open, Barcelona is preparing to welcome thousands of runners, as well as firemen and firewomen, for this unique sporting event. Barcelona City Council’s Sports Councillor, David Escudé, has highlighted the expectation that this edition could be one of the fastest in the history of the race. On 22 October, the streets will once again vibrate with the energy of the Vueling Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona 2023, and the 10K will be a true test of speed and determination.
