More than 12,000 running enthusiasts gathered at the 24th Vueling Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona, an event that has once again established itself as one of the most prominent in the world of running in the city. With an exciting change of route that generated great expectation and a growing demand for numbers, SevenMila has exceeded all expectations.

The premiere of the new course generated great expectation among the more than 13,500 people registered for this edition of the Vueling Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona. The high demand and requests from runners led the organisers to increase the initial number of 12,500. In addition, 250 members of the Barcelona Fire Brigade and the Generalitat de Catalunya had the honour of inaugurating this exciting event of sport, solidarity and fun with a start that was animated by the charismatic Andreu Presas, announcer of Radio Flaixbac, the official radio station of the Vueling Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona.

A Podium of Champions

In the men’s category, Abdessamad Oukhelfen was the champion, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 0:28:42 minutes. Oukhelfen expressed his joy at returning to run in Barcelona and in such an emblematic race as the firefighters’ race. Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Laura Rodriguez took the trophy with a time of 0:34:13 minutes. “I am very happy to have achieved my personal best in the Vueling Carrera de Bomberos Barcelona, an emblematic race”, said Rodriguez after her victory. In the Barcelona Fire Brigade, Adrià and Mireia were the first to cross the finish line.

Solidarity in action

The solidarity aspect of the Vueling Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona shone in this 24th edition, raising more than €26,000 through the 13 solidarity challenges proposed by Bomberos Solidarios and supported by the foundation ‘Mi Grano de Arena’. In this edition, CaixaBank demonstrated its commitment as a social partner, strengthening the solidarity challenges. The challenge that raised the most funds was the “Victory Pavilion”, led by Arce García, generating more than €6,000 to benefit the creation of a children’s hospital.

A successful new course

The new firefighters’ course was a resounding success, attracting more participants and offering an agile and accessible route for all those wishing to enjoy a festive, sporting and supportive celebration.
